Indian Standard IS 800:2007 provides guidance for design of steel structures. The fire section of this code includes calculation Period of Structural Adequacy (PSA) for unprotected and protected members. It also gives briefs about protection for different Fire Resistance Level (Fire Rating)along with value of material properties, Yield Stress and Modulus of Elasticity at elevated temperature. This study is focused on comparison of fire resistant design method given in Indian Standard (IS 800:2007), Australian code (AS 4100), Eurocode (EN 1993-1-2), and American code (AISC 360). This study includes fire resistant design of simply supported beam of span 3m to 7m with above mentioned codes. In this study all beams at room temperature (20 ?C) are designed in accordance with IS 800:2007. For calculation of temperature rise in steel ISO 834 standard fire is used. For protected steel member, Eurocode and American code have been compared. While Indian and Australian code are based on regression analysis of standard fire test data, which is not in present scope of study.
